In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is one of the most widely used and well-documented assisted reproductive procedures, offering a concrete solution for individuals and couples who struggle to achieve pregnancy naturally. The procedure involves fertilising oocytes with sperm in a laboratory environment under carefully controlled conditions, significantly increasing the chances of success across a wide range of clinical scenarios.

What is In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)?

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a modern assisted reproduction method in which oocytes are retrieved and combined with sperm in a specialised laboratory, where embryos are formed. After close monitoring and assessment, embryos that demonstrate favourable development can be transferred into the uterine cavity with the aim of achieving an ongoing pregnancy.

This procedure is used to overcome multiple causes of infertility, such as tubal damage, endometriosis, significant alterations in sperm parameters, ovulation disorders, or situations in which the cause of conception difficulties cannot be clearly identified. IVF provides a solution when other interventions are insufficient or no longer represent an effective option.

Depending on each patient’s medical profile, the IVF protocol may include additional procedures such as ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection), or advanced genetic testing — PGT for Aneuploidies (PGT-A), Structural Rearrangements (PGT-SR), or Monogenic Disorders (PGT-M) — as well as embryo or oocyte cryopreservation when these steps enhance the likelihood of treatment success.

Treatment steps

Your step-by-step guide to In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)

Every treatment is built on a well-defined medical process, carefully structured and tailored to the individual needs of each case. The objective is for the patient to receive clear information, continuous support, and the assurance that every stage is explained in detail—from the initial consultation to the subsequent monitoring period. The entire journey is guided with professionalism, ensuring that medical decisions are made with full understanding.

Although procedures vary depending on each patient’s diagnosis, treatment always begins with a thorough evaluation of the individual situation and the establishment of a personalized strategy. This approach increases the real chances of success and ensures continuity of care throughout the entire journey toward becoming a parent.

In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)
During our first consultation, we will analyze your medical history, your fertility background, and previous test results to determine whether IVF is the appropriate next step for your situation. We will review together each phase of the treatment and provide all the information you need to make a confident, well-informed decision.
You will follow a personalized stimulation protocol designed to help your ovaries produce multiple eggs. Throughout the entire process, we will carefully monitor follicular development through ultrasounds and blood tests, adjusting the treatment based on your biological response.
When the eggs are ready, we proceed with their retrieval through a short, minimally invasive procedure performed under light sedation. The procedure is well tolerated. At the same time, a sperm sample is collected — or surgically retrieved, if needed. Both samples are immediately prepared for the laboratory phase.
Your eggs are fertilised with sperm in our laboratory. The embryos are closely monitored for several days as they develop.
The highest-quality embryo is carefully selected and transferred into the uterus through a gentle, quick, and painless procedure performed under ultrasound guidance. Additional high-quality embryos may be frozen for future use.
Approximately two weeks after the transfer, a blood test is performed to confirm whether implantation occurred and whether a pregnancy has begun.

F.A.Q.

In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) F.A.Q.

Starting a treatment or medical procedure often raises questions regarding safety, effectiveness, and its impact on fertility. This section provides general explanations to help patients better understand the working steps, what the procedure involves, and what results to expect. The information is presented in an accessible manner to facilitate a clearer understanding of the medical process.

If additional questions arise or if the individual situation requires specific clarifications, a direct discussion with the physician can offer personalized guidance and recommendations tailored to each case. Proper guidance supports informed decision-making and ensures that treatment proceeds safely.

The procedure itself is not painful. Egg retrieval is performed under sedation, and the embryo transfer is usually painless. Some patients may feel mild cramping or bloating due to hormonal treatment.
In most cases, we recommend transferring a single embryo to reduce the risk of multiple pregnancy. The final decision depends on your age, medical history, and embryo quality.
Yes. If healthy embryos remain after the current cycle, they can be frozen and used in future treatment cycles.
IVF is a safe procedure, but it may involve some risks such as ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), multiple pregnancy, or emotional stress. All phases are carefully monitored and managed by your medical team.
We will analyze the results together, discuss the next steps, and provide support in choosing the best option — whether repeating treatment or exploring alternative approaches.
Usually, a break of one full menstrual cycle is recommended before starting a new attempt. The exact interval depends on your recovery and comfort.
