Laparoscopy

Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used both for diagnosing and treating various gynecological conditions. This technique allows direct visualization of the pelvic organs and enables interventions through small incisions, ensuring faster recovery and reduced discomfort for the patient.

What is Laparoscopy?

Laparoscopy is a modern technique that allows evaluation and treatment of gynecological conditions using a video camera inserted through a minimal incision. The procedure enables examination of the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and abdominal cavity, providing precise information about conditions that cannot be fully clarified through standard imaging investigations.

In addition to its diagnostic role, laparoscopy also allows therapeutic interventions such as ovarian cyst removal, treatment of endometriosis, fallopian tube recanalization, or fibroid removal. The technique reduces the risks associated with traditional surgery and supports faster recovery.

This procedure is considered the standard approach for treating many gynecological conditions due to its precision and significant postoperative advantages.

Who is Laparoscopy for?

Treatment steps

Your step-by-step guide to Laparoscopy

Every treatment is built on a well-defined medical process, carefully structured and tailored to the individual needs of each case. The objective is for the patient to receive clear information, continuous support, and the assurance that every stage is explained in detail—from the initial consultation to the subsequent monitoring period. The entire journey is guided with professionalism, ensuring that medical decisions are made with full understanding.

Although procedures vary depending on each patient’s diagnosis, treatment always begins with a thorough evaluation of the individual situation and the establishment of a personalized strategy. This approach increases the real chances of success and ensures continuity of care throughout the entire journey toward becoming a parent.

Laparoscopy
During the initial consultation, we discuss in detail your symptoms, medical history, and the results of previous investigations. If laparoscopy is recommended, I explain why it is the appropriate intervention and schedule it so that it is performed under the best conditions.
Before the intervention, blood tests, updated imaging, or a short fasting period may be required. I personally guide you through all preparation steps to ensure the procedure is carried out safely and without unexpected issues.
Under general anesthesia, a small incision is made near the navel, through which the laparoscope—a device that allows detailed visualisation of reproductive organs—is introduced. If a problem is identified, it can be treated during the same procedure using fine instruments inserted through additional small incisions, so that visible lesions or causes of infertility can be addressed immediately.
In most cases, you can go home the same day. Mild discomfort in the first 24–48 hours is possible, but it improves quickly. I provide clear instructions regarding pain medication, permitted activities, and warning signs to watch for in the first days.
During the postoperative visit, we review the images, the intervention performed, and the results. Based on these, we establish the next steps—either monitoring or a personalized plan for achieving pregnancy naturally or with assisted reproduction.

F.A.Q.

Laparoscopy F.A.Q.

Starting a treatment or medical procedure often raises questions regarding safety, effectiveness, and its impact on fertility. This section provides general explanations to help patients better understand the working steps, what the procedure involves, and what results to expect. The information is presented in an accessible manner to facilitate a clearer understanding of the medical process.

If additional questions arise or if the individual situation requires specific clarifications, a direct discussion with the physician can offer personalized guidance and recommendations tailored to each case. Proper guidance supports informed decision-making and ensures that treatment proceeds safely.

I use it to diagnose and treat problems such as endometriosis, adhesions, ovarian cysts, or other causes that may affect fertility. It is a minimally invasive method and very useful when imaging investigations are not sufficient.
Because it is performed under general anesthesia, you will not feel pain during the intervention. After surgery, mild cramps or abdominal pressure may appear, but these are typically mild and improve quickly.
Laparoscopy is considered one of the safest minimally invasive surgical techniques. Direct visualisation of organs allows me to work precisely and reduce the risk of complications.
Most patients return to usual activities within a few days. Intense physical effort should be avoided for 1–2 weeks, and we discuss exact recommendations during the postoperative visit.
The incisions are very small, so the scars are discreet and often difficult to notice after healing.
Yes. By treating hidden causes of infertility—such as adhesions, endometriosis, or cysts—laparoscopy can significantly improve the chances of conception.
